Today in Central PA Sports History - 1999
September 20, 1999

On this date eleven years ago, Milton Bradley launched the now infamous grand slam to propel the Harrisburg Senators to their fourth straight Eastern League championship. Unquestionably the single greatest moment in Senators’ history, the home run has rightfully become the stuff of legends known simply as “The Slam”.
Down 11-7 entering the bottom of the 9th inning of the deciding Game 5 against the Norwich Navigators, the Senators’ chances appeared slim to none. The first three batters reached base on a single and two walks before Norwich brought in their league-leading closer, Joe Lisio. He quickly got a popup and a strikeout before playoff MVP Jason Camilli had an infield single that plated one and kept the bases loaded. Up stepped Bradley who had been 0-4 with 3 strikeouts in the game and already in the clubhouse stripped down to his boxers. Bradley worked the count to full before he deposited the fastball offering from Lisio over the right-centerfield wall to end the season in the most improbable fashion.
Senators’ manager Doug Sisson tried to put the win in context, “With apologies to my daughter, this could be the greatest day of my life.”
Thanks for coming and suckling Daddy's Sugar Ball...
