On this date two years ago, CD East graduate Hyleas Fountain captured the bronze medal in the women's heptathlon at the Summer Olympics in Beijing. Fountain accumulated 6,619 points in the event to finish on the medal stand behind two Ukranian women, Nataliia Dobrynska and Liudmyla Blonska. Five days later, Blonska was stripped of her medal when she tested positive for steroids and Fountain was moved up in the finish and awarded the silver.
