You Gotta Be Here

If you've watched any of the Olympics, I'm sure you've caught the commercial promoting British Columbia tourism with the tag line "You gotta be here". If you haven't seen it, here is a link to it.

I find it ironic that the ad features poorly green-screened personalities into images of British Columbia since we apparently gotta be there, but they didn't have to be. I also found it telling that the celebrities they chose for the campaign were all raised in the British Columbia area, but their primary residences are now in Los Angeles (Van Wilder and gay Will), New York (Samantha the Whore, Shakes the Clown, and alien Jonas Brother), or even Montreal (Queen Lilith Fair). It's like they're telling us, "We love it here...just not enough to live here."

Well if you thought that commercial was bad wait until you see what our moles in the advertising industry have dug up. They were able to find the tourism board's follow-up campaign once again featuring "celebrities" with ties to British Columbia. If you thought they hit the bottom of the barrel with Eric McCormack and Kim Cattrell, you haven't seen anything yet. We were unable to embed the video, but what follows are screengrabs with the narration under each image. Enjoy!
