6 years ago today bowler (and friend of DSB) Jim Tomek Jr. made his only televised final and career-best finish of third place in the PBA Days Inn Open in Dallas. In the opening wildcard match, Tomek strung strikes together in the 6th through 9th frames and beat the then leader in World Point Rankings Brad Angelo, 224-190. In the next match, eventual runner-up David Traber overcame an early split and struck out in the 10th frame to beat Tomek, 222-211, in the semifinal round. For his third-place finish, Tomek earned a $10,000 payday.
