The Snooze Button: 1/29

Every morning, DSB will give you a post entitled The Snooze Button.  Some sites will give you a Wake-Up Call or The Morning Meat...instead we give you just enough to occupy the first 9 minutes of your day.

Now you can win a pair of JoePa's trademark glasses...signed and everything.  The online auction begins February 1st.

Yesterday's Winner: Andy Murray

Murray defeated Marin Cilic in four sets to advance to Sunday's Australian Open Championship match against Roger Federer (who advanced in straight sets).  If Murray defeats Federer, he would become the first British man in over 70 years to win a Grand Slam singles title.  Really, I just wanted to include a link to this amazing point from Murray's match.

Yesterday's Loser: Miramax

Disney officially closed the Miramax movie studio yesterday after 30 years of producing movies like Shakespeare in Love, Pulp Fiction, Clerks, Reservoir Dogs, and The English Patient. Created by brothers Harvey and Bob Weinstein and purchased by Disney in 1993 for $70M, Miramax has been hemorrhaging money for the last couple of years and the staff had already dwindled down to only 80 left between the New York and Los Angeles offices.
