Beer Review: Troegs Mad Elf

Troegs Mad Elf Seasonal Beer:

We here at DSB are long standing supporters of micro and craft brewing.  If you are going to drink beer then you should most often be drinking beer that puts money in the little guy's pocket and was brewed with love and attention to detail.  One of the most popular Central PA craft brewers is Harrisburg’s own TroegsCraft Brewery and the one beer that everyone asks for each year is Mad Elf.  It is a holiday staple to beer drinkers in this part of the Keystone State and why not?  It is a classic example of a holiday beer.  Nutmeg, cherries, honey and chocolate are deeply infused into the 11% ABV libation.  When served properly it comes in a tulip shaped glass with little to no head and a deep ruby color that is both inviting and appropriate for the season.  While it is easy to drink, be aware that the high alcohol content will cause lamp shade on head syndrome at your holiday party. Though I have generally found this beer to be too complex in flavor to be enjoyed in mass at one sitting, it is a fantastic brew and should be the first beer you try at your holiday party.  It is readily available now at most Central PA beer distributors but act fast because this beer sells out quickly.  If you want to have a glass on Christmas Eve you better get your case now.  Mad Elf is a big beer with big flavor; if you have not tried it, you should because this beer gets The Official Bearcat Seal of Approval.

Thanks for coming and suckling on Daddy’s Sugar Ball…
