Beer Reviews...McEwan's Scotch Ale

McEwan's Scotch Ale

The label screams, "Drink me then lets go kill some English bastards!"

If you have never had McEwan's Scotch Ale then you are missing out a one of the world's great manly beers.  This is a premium priced, imported beer that you will be hard pressed to find in a bar but is readily available in most large beer distributors.  It comes in a dark brown bottle with a tartan printed label.  To drink it straight from the bottle is to miss out on everything that this beer can give you.  After popping off the cap you are going to want to pour this bad boy into a clear pint glass.  It will bring out a nice head that remains with the beer until you get to the bottom of the glass.  The color is a deep amber red tone that is welcoming and not quite black.  The scent is caramel, yeast and alcohol (yeah!).  Strap a pair on buddy because you are about to go for a real ride.  At first sip, if the beer is very cold it may not be evident but this beer is packing a serious wallop.  McEwan's holds 8% ABV.  As the beer warms up this fact can become quite apparent but never ruins the consumption of this fine libation.  This beer tastes fantastic start to finish.  It is smooth and easy to drink (especially for being as heavy as it is).  Given the high alcohol content the label is accurate that this is not so much a Scottish ale as it is a scotch ale.  A six pack of these bad boys will have you ready to sport a kilt and be begging for a platoon of bagpipes to march you into war William Wallace-style.  This beer is pure manliness.  It gets the Bearcat seal of approval.

Thanks for coming and sucking on Daddy's Sugar Ball...
